Dr. Rachel Mauk receives 2021 Editor's Award from the American Meteorological Society

Dr. Rachel Mauk, a research analytics consultant at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center, is the recent recipient of a 2021 American Meteorological Society (AMS) Journal Editor’s Award.  Dr. Mauk serves as an associate editor for the Monthly Weather Review journal.  

Dr. Mauk is the first winner of an AMS Editor’s Award from the Ohio State University, according to AMS records.  

The Editor’s Award is given to an individual for outstanding service to the journals, the Glossary of Meteorology, and the Meteorological Monographs. Dr. Mauk was recognized for providing insightful, timely, and constructive reviews that helped authors to improve the quality of their manuscripts.

As a research analytics consultant, Dr. Mauk oversees the Instrumental Data section. Her research responsibilities include health care quality measure development and implementation, technical assistance on data and analysis for state agencies, and treatment for substance use disorders in Ohio.  

Dr. Mauk holds a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Ohio State University with a focus on hurricane climatology. She has worked as a NASA intern, a data manager for OSU's Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park, and a lecturer for introductory Earth Science and advanced meteorology classes.
