Adaptive Exercises Balance Transcript Elizabeth: Monica is working on her balance by walking in a straight line, heel to toe, with her arms out. Monica and Sabrina are working on balancing together by standing on one leg. And it’s okay if you need to tap your foot down to catch yourself, because that’s part of working all those little muscles that are so important for balance. And working on balance exercises is very important because the stronger you are at balancing the less likely you are to fall or you are going to be better able to catch yourself safely if you start to fall. Lindsey: Terry volunteered to show you his balance exercises by using his hands to lift himself up on the arms of his chair. However, like we often do when it comes to exercising, we underestimate ourselves, and like you can see here today, Terry was able to actually use some of his lower body strength to work on his balance and lifting himself up in his chair more so than we even expected. It just goes to show that we can all work out and exercise in our own special way, even better than we anticipate.
