Adaptive Exercises Calf Raises Transcript Lindsey Mullis: Calf raises work the muscles in the lower part of our legs. You want to make sure to have a good stance that’s shoulder distance apart or more to have really strong calf raise. Here you can see that I’m lifting my heels off the floor as high as I can to go up on my tippy toes. As high as I can and comfortable with my balance. I’ve turned to the side so that you can see better how I am lifting up and engaging those calf muscles lifting my heels off the floor as high as I can and staying on my toes, and even holding it there at the last minute just to work extra hard on my balance. Shake it out. Elizabeth: Terry and Keelee are pointing and flexing to work on the flexibility of their calf muscles. When you are doing this exercise, you want to point your toe as straight as you can so it looks like a straight line from your knee to your toe. And when you flex, you want to bend your foot back so that your toes are pointing towards to ceiling. And remember to make sure to do equal amounts on both sides! Lindsey: Sabrina and Jamise are showing how much fun it can be to work on your calf raises as well as your balance together. So lifting up those heels on your tippy toes just as high as possible, even if it’s just a little bit, it’s working your balance and you lower body muscles. And then to stretch it out you want to tap your heels on the ground while you are flexing your foot to get a nice stretch up through the back of that calf muscle and really cool down those muscles really nice.
