Adaptive Exercises Shoulder Press Transcript Lindsey Mullis: Shoulder presses are a different kind of way of doing an arm raise. As you will see in this video there’s lot of different ways to do it, but your focus is specifically on that shoulder muscle, pushing and pulling. So you can see you can use dumbbells, you can also use your resistance bands going above your head, a great way to really work on upper body strength. Brandy here is using a different resistance band in something we call a Hunger Games press, like a bow and arrow, working on that pushing and pulling motion. Now Larry is using more of a bicep approach doing his shoulder presses. As Lindsey is demonstrating here, you can do your shoulder presses as slow. As you’re doing them above your head you can do them fast. And the thing about it is you make it your own, do what you are comfortable with, and do it to the best of your ability. What is important mostly is that you are moving your body and you’re raising that arm above your head working on flexibility, and working on getting your muscles stronger. And it’s also really important to remember that you want to keep those muscles engaged and you want to make sure you are not doing it too fast or too hard, that you going to your comfort level and you are keeping it safe, so that’s really important. Elizabeth: As with any exercise, it’s important to remember to breathe, especially when you are doing strength exercises. Lindsey: Exercising is a great way to be healthier, happier, and feel good, and just have a lot of fun. So get out there and get started!
