The Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center, The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital Partners for Kids are collaborating to integrate oral health services into primary care settings. The quality improvement initiative will support providers in delivering oral health assessments, fluoride varnish, silver diamine fluoride, patient education, and referrals to dental visits.
The effort plans to recruit at least one participating practice in each of Ohio’s 73 rural counties over five years, with special attention to nine counties that lack a safety net dental clinic.
By combining GRC's quality improvement expertise with Partners For Kids' experience in pediatric oral health and provider engagement, along with clinical leadership from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, the partnership aims to strengthen connections between medical and dental care, improve access to preventive services, and support healthier outcomes for children across Ohio.
