Rachel Mauk is a Research Analytics Consultant at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center. Rachel's current projects focus primarily on opiate trends and treatment in Ohio, including the Maternal Opiate Medical Supports (MOMS) project.
Rachel received a PhD in Atmospheric Sciences from Ohio State University in 2016 with a dissertation on hurricane climatology. She has worked as a data manager for OSU's Schiermeier Olentangy River Wetland Research Park, interned at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, and taught introductory Earth Science and advanced meteorology classes at OSU. She serves as an Associate Editor for the American Meteorological Society journal Monthly Weather Review. During the last two years of her PhD, Rachel worked at GRC as a Graduate Research Assistant, gaining experience in health care data analysis and visualization to complement a decade of experience in Earth Science research. She is very interested in the effects of weather and climate on human health in Ohio and beyond.
