GRC Conducting Statewide Community Health Worker Assessment

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are a critical part of meeting the needs of the future health care system. Often a trusted member of the community, CHWs have the advantage of helping to reduce health disparities by establishing trusting relationships with patients who may be difficult to reach or face barriers to receiving health care. A CHW may help patients with health knowledge, navigating the health care system, informal counseling, or advocacy. These are often areas that may be outside the scope of knowledge or time that a health provider can give to patients.

Through a grant awarded by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), GRC is conducting Ohio's first statewide assessment of CHW capacity. The results of the assessment will provide a more accurate picture of the utilization of CHWs in Ohio and recommendations for next steps to improve CHW practice.

GRC is currently seeking participants to complete the survey portion of the assessment. If you are a CHW or employ or supervise CHWs, please click on the appropriate link and complete our brief 10 minute survey. Surveys will remain open through May 11, 2018.
