The Ohio Opportunity Index Consortium

Overview:

The Ohio Opportunity Index Consortium is a diverse collection of Ohio-based organizations and individuals that recognize health is affected by the places in which people live. The more we can understand that phenomenon in Ohio, the better it can be addressed with policy decisions locally, nationally, and globally.

Our primary products are the Ohio Opportunity Index (OOI), the Ohio Children’s Opportunity Index (OCOI), and the user-centered OOI and OCOI dashboards developed with stakeholder input for the purpose of supporting policy decision making. We also use these tools ourselves to pursue our research, education, and practice objectives.

Associated projects:

1.    Development of the OOI and the OCOI indices
2.    Visualizing the OOI and OCOI using decision support tools
3.    Peer reviewed documentation and validation of our products

Consortium members:

1.    The Government Resources Center (PIs: Nate Doogan and Lorin Ranbom)
2.    The Center for the Advancement of Team Science, Analytics, and Systems Thinking and The Department of Biomedical Informatics (PI: Naleef Fareed)

Current stakeholders:

1.    The Ohio Department of Medicaid
2.    The Ohio Department of Health
