Liz Whelan-Jackson is a Research Consultant at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC). Liz joined GRC in 2022 and her primary focus is making data more understandable and actionable through interactive data visualization.

Liz earned a master’s degree in city and regional planning from The Ohio State University and applied her professional interest in modeling complex regional systems through more than five years with the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission. In that role, Liz developed her technical skills working with a broad range of national, state, and local data to inform regional modeling activities. She worked with partners across domains, such as economics, housing, health, and the environment to inform MORPC’s role modeling population growth and transportation system demands. She also honed her passion for designing and building interactive data visualizations for decisionmakers, community leaders, and the public to support data-informed planning, policymaking and civic engagement.
