Dr. David Angeles joined the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) in March 2026 as a Senior Researcher. David has expertise in statistical methodology, longitudinal data analysis, mixed-effects modeling, interrupted time series analysis, and data analytics using a variety of tools, including R, Python, MATLAB, SQL, and Git. As part of the Population Health and Quality Improvement Analytics section, he supports several quality improvement initiatives, including the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Regional Quality Improvement Hub (QI Hub) and Coverdell Stroke, through the development of data pipelines, data quality monitoring processes, measure construction, and reporting analytics. He also contributes statistical expertise to GRC projects, including the implementation of three-phase interrupted time series models for the evaluation of Ohio Medicaid’s Substance Use Disorder Section 1115 Demonstration Waiver to assess the causal impact of the waiver on substance use disorder treatment, health outcomes, and overdose deaths.

Prior to joining GRC, he completed his doctoral training in Biostatistics, where he developed innovative statistical methods for functional and shape data analysis, applying them across disciplines including public health, engineering, and anthropology. He further collaborated with multidisciplinary teams on NSF-funded tobacco research projects and applied Kaplan-Meier methods, Bayesian time-to-event models, and mixed-effects analyses to generate data-driven evidence that informed health policy decision-making.

Dr. Angeles holds a B.A. in Mathematics from California State University, Northridge, and both an M.S. in Statistics and a Ph.D. in Biostatistics from The Ohio State University.
